The housekeeper did what she could to make things pleasant, and breakfast was nice. The owner had been friendly at first, but when we saw the twin room and asked to switch, he turned hostile straight away. It made the rest of our stay uncomfortable. The room was dark and bare, smelled musty, and didn’t have the ensuite we’d been promised. This was our only bad experience in the Cotswolds.

We had such a good time together, and the view was fantastic. Richard the owner was really sweet and helpful. Thanks, Tibbiwell lodge!

Janina was lovely when she brought my breakfast, and the food was excellent. The location is beautiful, but the balcony faced a yard full of builders’ rubble and equipment. The rooms feel old fashioned, with creaky wooden floors. There was no sink stopper, and the bath had no handrail. With the sloped ceiling, you had to stoop to get out, which felt very dangerous. Owners’ and staff cars used more than half the parking spaces. It was overpriced for what you get. Without Janina, I’d have given it one star.

Janina was a lovely host and very helpful throughout our Cotswold Way hiking trip. Breakfast was delicious, cooked to order, and there was lots of it. We spent two comfortable, quiet nights at Tibbiwell Lodge in Painswick. The shower was small, but fine to use. I’d happily recommend a stay here.

I was in the area for work and stayed at Tibbiwell Lodge twice in November with my dog. Richard and Janina, who mostly runs the B&B, were friendlier and more helpful than I expected. The terrace room was spacious, quiet and comfortable, and I slept soundly. It had a decent sized bathroom with both a bath and shower, plus views that were soothing to wake up to. There are several places to eat within an easy walk. I went to The Falcon Inn. I’d definitely come back if I get the chance.
