Mercure Telford Centre Hotel

The rooms are comfortable, and the welcoming atmosphere keeps bringing me back. I stay here often and always have a good experience. The staff are what make the difference. Shannix is especially kind and attentive at evening dinner, and always goes out of her way to look after guests. She’s a real credit to the hotel. Helen at breakfast is wonderful too, always friendly and helpful. Highly recommended for the service.

Helen and Anes in the restaurant were great. They were friendly and professional, and their attention to detail made every meal enjoyable. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the common areas made it easy to slow down. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere feels welcoming and calm. The location in Nice is excellent, with easy access to the city while still feeling peaceful. It’s a warm, pleasant stay with service that would make me want to return.

There’s ample parking, and it’s an easy walk to the shopping mall, Capgemini and the HMRC building. KFC and Burger King are about a 3-4 minute walk away, and the shopping centre is around five minutes at most. The restaurant menu looked appealing and well priced, with good options. I’m aware the hotel also has a swimming pool and sauna, which is a nice bonus. Mel (Melissa) welcomed me at reception, introduced herself and handled all my reservations. She was lovely, smiling and made me feel valued from the start. I was given a Premium room and was really impressed. It was spotless and well maintained, with a modern bathroom, large comfortable bed, 55-inch TV, fridge with complimentary drinks and some lovely chocolate treats. I’ve stayed in a ridiculous number of hotels, and this one stood out. The pillows felt like hollow fibre and didn’t give much support. The shower head also needs replacing, as it sprayed in all directions and didn’t spray very well. Sanjeeva at the bar was welcoming and friendly, always smiling, and poured a decent draught beer. The lounge had pool tables, the hot and cold drinks selection was excellent, and the prices were more reasonable than I expected. The hotel has a modern feel, a great atmosphere and attentive staff. I’d definitely recommend Mercure Telford. A really enjoyable stay.

For work, this hotel served its purpose, and the location by the train station and conference centre is excellent. The staff were pleasant and very helpful, and I can’t fault their service. Breakfast had a great selection, and the cooked self-service breakfast I had was very tasty. An extra person in the breakfast area might have helped with clearing and resetting tables. The three-star score is down to the room and its cleanliness. The curtains were stained, there were massive cobwebs in the corners, and the bathroom floor had dust and hair in the corners. The shower needed a larger screen or a closing door because it flooded the bathroom floor each time. The bottom of the bathroom door was warped and peeling, so this has clearly been going on a while. Some restaurant tables were past their best, with peeling or missing veneer, and looked tired and a bit grubby. Some lobby chairs were marked and stained and could use a deep clean or replacement. If these issues were fixed, I’d raise my score and consider staying again.
