Premier Inn Telford Central

We left with our three small children hungry, and I’ve never had worse service from a hotel. If they can’t provide the breakfast we paid for, they shouldn’t offer it at booking. Disgraceful. We booked a room months ahead with breakfast for our family. When we arrived, we were told we needed to book a breakfast time slot, so we did. The next morning, we went to The beefeater next door and were told there was no booking for us. The staff there were rude and unhelpful. We went back to the Premier Inn, but they said nothing could be done. The staff were rude and unhelpful too. As we left without help, the Manager laughed about it while walking away. When we challenged her, she told us to leave.

The staff were courteous, the rooms well kept and there was lots of parking. Refreshments were limited compared with years ago, just a basic tea and coffee selection. I’m not keen on the newer policy of sealed windows. I understand it apparently helps with climate control, but it means having the air-conditioning on all night. The constant whirring can make sleep interrupted and unrestful. Like many people, I sleep with a window slightly open, which I think is healthier and more natural where possible. Unlike air-conditioning, it uses no energy at all.

The staff were so lovely, friendly and accommodating. But even knowing it’s a budget hotel where you’re mostly there to sleep, there were too many things missing or wrong. There was no chair, the thermostat was faulty, and the sheets weren’t clean, with hairs in the bedding. I was on the first floor, where there was banging at all hours, stomping, and doors creaking and slamming. I raised it with Reception and they apologized. I wouldn’t stay there again. It wasn’t great.

The room wasn’t well maintained. One pillowcase hadn’t been changed, the bathroom grout was greying, and two single beds had been pushed together to make a double, which made for a very uncomfortable night. I had to sleep clothed.
