My family who live out of the area stay at The Valley Hotel when they visit, and they’ve always had a great experience. I also like stopping there when I’m in Dale End Park. It’s open to non-residents, so you can go in for a drink or a meal. The grounds are lovely and it’s a relaxing place to sit and take in the surroundings. A nice option whether you need a room or just want somewhere pleasant to eat or have a drink.

Breakfast and dinner were both excellent, and there was plenty of parking. The hotel sits in a lovely spot overlooking the river. Our room was clean, and the staff in reception and the dining room were friendly.

The receptionist and the woman behind the bar were both friendly and helpful. We parked our motorhome for £10 and were given £10 off food. We ordered two BLTs with chips and coffee. The coffee had no taste, and the sandwiches took nearly 30 minutes to arrive. Mine was burnt black in the middle, so I left most of the toast. The chips were poor and barely warm. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The hotel is in a lovely spot on a quiet road, with a park behind it and the river beyond. Breakfast had a great range and dinner was good, and the price was very reasonable. Staff were helpful too. Our room was clean and everything worked, though it may have been the smallest one. I’m sure some rooms are bigger and have better views. Ours could also use a little decorating in places.

What a huge, comfortable super king bed. The room was spotless, though a little dated and tired. The buffet breakfast was delicious, but the tea was weak and the coffee much too strong for our taste. It’s a beautiful Georgian house in lovely grounds and a superb location, ideal for a weekend of walking and exploring or a romantic break. The staff were lovely and happy to help with anything. Can’t wait to go back.
