The Charterhouse

Lisa and Christophe made our stay feel so easy. Lisa was welcoming throughout, nothing was too much trouble, and we really enjoyed chatting with her over breakfast. Christophe made delicious vegan breakfasts each morning. I'm still thinking about his wild mushrooms on toast! Thanks for catering for our dietary needs, and for Lisa keeping us supplied with oat milk and Nakd bars in our room. Our room was comfortable, well-equipped and spotlessly clean. The garden was beautiful and there was ample parking. We also enjoyed befriending the cat. We loved staying at The Charterhouse and can't wait to return!

The garden room worked perfectly for our mum and 3 dogs, while the attic room suited the parents and teenager. Our double was spacious too, and everywhere was clean. All the rooms were spotless and exactly what our family needed. Breakfasts were really nice and catered for all diets as well. We got a lovely, friendly welcome. I'd highly recommend this place.

We found the Chartered House at the last minute while looking for a stop in Torquay, and booked a compact, dog-friendly bedroom for our dog Oscar, who was travelling with us. We're so glad we found it. Lisa was very welcoming, while also giving us space to unwind after travelling. We didn't meet Christophe, her French husband, but loved his homemade English breakfast. It's a lovely, quiet and welcoming dog-friendly place. We'll come back!

From arrival right through to leaving, we had a great time at the charterhouse. Lisa was welcoming and helpful throughout, and the breakfasts were lovely, definitely among the best I've had in a while. One of the best places we've ever stayed. Looking forward to coming again.
