After about 15 minutes in the room, I spotted thick webs all over the windows and several spiders, alive and dead, including a big one by the TV. I went downstairs for the Henry hoover and cleaned the room myself. It looked clean at first, and I know older buildings can have this sort of problem, but it seemed like the place hadn’t had a deep clean in weeks.

The room was comfortable, clean and tidy, and the recently painted bar feels cosy. There’s a nice outdoor seating area too. Kate was lovely, warm and easy to talk to, and the locals I met were just as nice. They have events and pop-up food businesses through the months. 10/10, I’d highly recommend it for a little getaway.

Blakesley is a pretty village, and the shop and post office are well stocked and open for long hours. The pub is clean and inviting, and the host and locals gave us a lovely welcome. Our room was airy with a comfy bed and all the usual amenities. Nothing was too much bother, and we’ll definitely stay again. It’s a handy base for Silverstone, Towcester and other local attractions.

After a lovely night at the pub, I had some significant health issues. Katie was so supportive through it all, and I can’t thank her enough. It’s a lovely pub with good drinks and really supportive staff.

We stopped for a pint after viewing a house in the village. It has that proper British village pub feel, with a locals’ pub vibe, but everyone was really nice. I’d go back for a few more beers.
