The location is brilliant, and we’ve come back to the Fairy Falls several times during the winter. The rooms are kept clean, with the heating on so they stay cosy and warm. The food is excellent, and the hosts always give us a warm welcome. They’re happy to help with anything. We’ll definitely stay here again.

The pub has a cosy, charming feel. We stopped in for a quick lunch after visiting the nearby Wool Mill, and the food was fantastic. We both really enjoyed our curry and fish and chips.

The room was comfortable and the location was great. The owner was lovely, and the pub served amazing food. We had a lovely stay.

The chips were the best part of the meal. We reheated them at our accommodation and added salt. Almost everything else ended up in the bin, which is frustrating given the £66 total. We were staying more than 20 minutes away, had been out all day, and were exhausted, so going back with the food wasn't practical. It was also too late by then. I took photos but can't work out how to add them 🙄 The order arrived in a bag that had split open. The supposed mint yoghurt dip was packed in a foil container underneath the plastic curry tubs, and had leaked onto the floor mats of my partner's new car. It turned out to be plain yoghurt anyway. The £20 mixed grill, which came with some chips, wasn't going to feed the two or three people stated. It had two lamb chops, three wings, two sheesh kebabs and three pieces of very bland chicken tikka. The saag aloo looked like puréed spinach and was unpleasant, according to my partner, even though it's usually his favourite side. The poppadoms were bendy and seemed stale. The butter naan was just bread without flavour, not like a normal naan. We both found the rice awful: watery, tasteless, overcooked, with what looked like pieces of chicken thigh and no seasoning. The curries also used shredded thigh meat, which seemed very odd when curries usually have chunks of chicken breast. My partner gave his chicken jalfrezi 2 out of 10. He said it was a bit like a masala with some heat and lots of onions. My chicken balti was a very runny, sweet-and-sour liquid with loads of oil, nothing like a balti. Neither curry was on the main menu, but the menu said they could make both to our preferred heat. We asked for medium and got mild. Coming from Birmingham, we've had Indian food at many restaurants, some good and some mediocre. This was well below the worst I've had. The food was depressing, and I'm not sure the chef was even Indian. If you're after Indian food, find a proper Indian restaurant and avoid this place.

The mushroom starter is especially good, and all the food I've had here has been wonderful. Whenever I come in, the atmosphere feels welcoming, and the staff and owner always make a real effort to look after you. It's a great place in a great location.
