The front room we had looked out over the village pond, which was beautiful. It was clean, nicely presented and had everything we needed. My husband and I are so glad we chose The Greyhound Inn for a mini break. It’s a lovely, cosy pub, and the staff were friendly and polite, with quick, efficient service. We tried several dishes: Pork Belly with mash, Steak and Ale pie, and my favourite, Beef Brisket with mash, vegetables, chips and gravy. It was absolutely delicious. The chef’s a genius. Breakfast was well provided, with a good choice of fruit, cereals and juice, plus a cooked menu. I’d recommend The Greyhound Inn, confident people won’t be disappointed.

The venison was the special, and the presentation was lovely. It was cooked perfectly and came with vegetables and sauce. Bravo, chef, and thank you. We stopped at The Greyhound for Saturday lunch in picturesque Aldbury. We’ve been before, and it’s always had delicious food and a wonderful atmosphere.

The food makes choosing difficult because it’s always good quality. I had the smoked haddock croquettes to start, then the delicious, very filling beef brisket and mash. Two others in our party really liked the duck breast, and the Bakewell tart was impossible to resist. The staff are friendly and professional, attentive without rushing you. It’s a lovely country pub in a beautiful village, and a favourite of ours. It never disappoints. We’ll be back again and again.

The slow-cooked pork roast was unbelievable, tender and falling apart, with generous but just-right portions and everything on the plate done beautifully. The sticky toffee pudding and crème brulée were fantastic too, even though we hadn’t planned on dessert. The Greyhound Inn really is a standout village pub. We came for Sunday lunch and loved the warm, relaxed buzz, even with the place completely full. They can cater for coeliacs, which shows real care and makes a big difference. Definitely book to avoid disappointment. Every staff member was calm, smiley and a joy to be around. They were efficient and attentive without making us feel rushed. The food and service both exceeded what we’d hoped for in a traditional countryside pub. We can’t wait to return.

We’d booked a lunch table after a cycle ride but roadworks made us late. When we arrived, the staff welcomed us warmly and politely warned us that the kitchen was about to close, which was completely understandable. They brought menus, took our orders, and served a range of different home-cooked meals. The service was outstanding. We had bacon, Brie and cranberry sandwiches, pork with mash, the vegetarian platter and other dishes. Everything was excellent. Thanks to the lovely staff member who stayed until the end to check we were all okay. Thoroughly recommend based on this visit.
