The staff were so helpful and friendly that I felt at home. The food and service were very good and pleasant, too. I stayed for one night last May and definitely plan to return. It's a beautiful house / hotel, full of African connections and artifacts, with tastefully designed, comfortable rooms of a good size. Outside there's a lovely, slightly wild but well-managed forest-like area, nice for a short walk or some fresh air.

The staff were very friendly, and as a woman travelling alone I felt safe. My room was clean and had what I needed, but it was dated, and the property's photos don't accurately show it. I didn't have a car and there's nothing nearby, so I had to eat both dinner and breakfast at the hotel. I appreciated having the meals available, but the quality for the price was questionable, as others have mentioned. Breakfast was £10 for cereal, cheap toast, and coffee, though I didn't have time to try the cooked options. Dinner was £25 for a microwave curry and sticky toffee pudding, which seemed steep.

The Hotel has lovely sitting rooms with log fires and interesting curiosities, and it feels charming. Manager Chad and partner Beth made us feel very welcome and worked hard to make sure everything was just right. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast, which were delicious.

Breakfast was the highlight for us. The chef deserves big props: it was one of the best English breakfasts I've had. There were pastries and cereals, plus tea, coffee, and juices to help yourself to. We stayed one night in Room 9 and were impressed by the price. The bright, comfortable room had everything we needed, a spacious bed with soft bedding, and cookies waiting for us. The shower pressure was perfect, though the sink tap wasn't very strong; it didn't bother us much. It was super quiet, so we slept really well. We'd both return to Guestling Hall Hotel! 😁

Breakfast was great and included, though the dogs barking in the breakfast room were a nuisance. The room itself was good, and we had a great night away. The shower and toilet were downstairs and could do with a lock for our room's use only. As they were open to others, we couldn't leave anything in there.
