The breakfast was fabulous, and the front of house staff were kind and helpful there, too. We had a lovely family stay while visiting Alton Towers. The lady working Saturday evening and Sunday morning was especially warm and welcoming, and did all she could to help us. I can't say enough about how lovely and kind she was. It was 100 times better than visiting a chain hotel.

Mary deserves so much credit, she'd bend over backwards for you. We stayed last night with my son before a weekend at Alton Towers. The rooms were clean, the shower was nice, and the beds were comfortable enough for a night or two. It's a 3 star hotel in a building over 200 years old, so don't expect the Ritz. We'd stay again if we visit the theme park in future. Thank you for a lovely stay ☺️

Mary made the hotel bar such a fun place to spend the evening with the other visitors. She was warm, funny and welcoming, and never stopped laughing. The accommodation itself could do with updating, but the staff made our stay amazing. Mary even waited to say goodbye the next morning, and the other staff we met were just as friendly. Honestly, we'd go back on a Saturday night just to see her. Thanks for a great visit, we'll be back.

The beds were comfortable, but the room was dirty and clearly hadn't been prepared. There was thick dust on a ledge behind the door and a huge gap in the cracked bath panel. The biscuits were still on the refreshing cart the next morning, and we saw them being taken to the room then. The double bed was comfy, as were the two singles, but the singles were squeezed under a lower ceiling and sat at different heights. We were three grown women, and the YHA we stayed at previously was much better. The staff were nice.

The building has lots of character, and it's very close to Alton Towers. Everything was nicely decorated and kept very clean. The staff were friendly and worked around our late check-in, without hurrying us out in the morning either. We'll definitely be back.
