Red Lion

The staff are what made our parents' wedding anniversary feel so special. People from the bar and restaurant, as well as the manager passing through, were so kind and even wished them a happy anniversary. They went the extra mile, and that kind of thoughtful service feels rare these days. The refurbishment looks lovely too, but the team and their care really stood out. I can't thank them enough.

The room had lots of space for our family, with a little kids' corner, bunk bed, stickers and a child's lamp, plus a big comfortable bed for the adults. The bathroom was roomy and well kept, with shampoo and body wash provided. Conditioner would've been useful, and the towels were a bit smelly. There was complimentary water and milk in the fridge, and staff said we could get more downstairs. It's an older building, but the renovation is lovely and there's plenty of space around the hotel. We also had dinner in the restaurant, and the food and drinks were excellent. Breakfast had a good range, including a proper hot English breakfast. After our first one-night stay, we returned two weeks later and were given a much smaller room. That was fine, and everything was still nice and well maintained. I'd happily come back.

The name "The Red Lion Hotel" is used by lots of different inns and hotels, so what people say depends on the location. Some reviews describe renovated places such as Kissimmee as modern, good value and well equipped, with pools, while older or budget properties, including some in Redding, may have worn furniture, chipped paint or fixtures that need attention. Parking safety also comes up at some locations. Across the reviews, people mention friendly staff, good food in pubs attached to UK locations, comfortable beds, large showers, free breakfast and Wi-Fi. Some places have water slides or limited TV channels, and small rooms with little seating are among the complaints. Breakfast included in the price can make for good value. The staff were really friendly and had kids' activities and crayons ready on the table. When we called to say the baby was still napping, they kindly let us push our booking back. We were a family of four adults, a child and a toddler, and all enjoyed Sunday lunch. Between us we had fish and chips for the kids, roast beef, chicken and lamb, with the meat especially delicious. Can't fault it, and we're looking forward to coming back soon.
