That pub downstairs gives the hostel a lively, sociable feel, and the staff were friendly and helpful with questions and recommendations. Check-in and check-out were easy too. Just bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper, since evenings can get noisy and some guests snore. We stayed at White Ferry House hostel in Westminster as a couple. The rooms were clean, the beds were fine for a short stay, and the shared bathrooms were well kept. Each cubicle had its own shower, toilet, sink, and mirror. It's basic rather than luxurious, but what you'd expect for a budget hostel. The location was the real draw: Buckingham Palace is within walking distance, Big Ben isn't far, and nearby transport made getting around London quick and easy. We walked everywhere. For the price, it's a solid choice if you care more about location and a social atmosphere than luxury.

I've been a regular at this branch for years and never had a problem before. On my latest visit, after I'd completed two nights of my booked stay, the rest of my reservation was suddenly cancelled. I had explained my routine clearly, but got no warning or discussion. I was left carrying my luggage in the rain and had to make urgent alternative arrangements. The location and facilities are convenient, but a mid-stay cancellation handled this way was extremely disruptive and stressful. I hope management takes a closer look at how emergencies are handled, especially for long-term guests.

The pub area and food are quite good, which makes the rest of the place more disappointing. From outside, it looks stylish and welcoming. My biggest problem over five nights was the staff. Only one man working there seemed happy to do his job. I work in hospitality, so I don't say that lightly. The others seemed annoyed when guests asked basic questions and weren't very engaged. They seemed happiest when outside and away from guests. The beds are poorly made, and the whole frame shakes when one person moves. Doors slam loudly enough to wake people, so late arrivals or early departures can ruin your sleep. Inconsiderate guests aren't the hostel's fault, but better door design or soundproofing would help. The bathrooms were unpleasant, with very dim lighting that felt like a horror movie set. I know staff can't check them every hour, but a busy hostel should manage a few scheduled cleanings each day. The rooms were passable, at least. It might do for a night or two if you lower your expectations, but with the bathrooms, noise, and detached staff, I wouldn't hurry back.

The location is the one thing I'd recommend: it's easy to get around by bus, the neighborhood is lovely, and there are nice views of London. The staff were polite and smiley, but didn't help when I had a real problem. My pyjamas and flip flops were thrown away, and nobody did anything about it or even admitted to it. The cleaning was terrible, the room smelled disgusting, and the bathrooms were always flooded and dirty. The doors are very noisy, and other guests showed no respect for people sharing a room. I didn't feel comfortable sleeping or staying there. I've stayed at a PUBLOVE hostel before, but this one was disappointing. I understand you get what you pay for, and saving money on a very limited budget comes with tradeoffs. Still, this was a letdown.

The rooms were spacious, and the wifi was really helpful. The staff were friendly when I checked in, and Victoria train and bus station is very close. But the plug sockets didn't work, and the whole building was very hot.
