The location makes it easy to explore Wareham on foot. The Saturday market is just around the corner, and a river stroll makes a nice circular walk. If you’re lucky, you might spot a seal or kingfisher. A boat trip from Poole is a lovely way to arrive, and Powerboat Club UK can give you details. For a drink afterwards, The Granary is a good riverside spot. If you fancy something sweet, The Bear on the High Street has what may be the best chocolate cake I’ve ever had, plus a cosy open fire at the back for cooler days. We’ve enjoyed several special occasions at The Priory Hotel over the years, and it’s still one of my favourite places to bring visitors. We once stayed in the Kingfisher Boathouse Suite, arriving by boat at the end of the garden. The moment felt so tranquil and beautiful, like stepping into a childhood dream. The suite carries that feeling through, with elegant interiors, a huge bathtub, and a peaceful outlook over the river. It feels very special, honestly wedding-night worthy. I loved having binoculars in the room too. Sometimes you can see deer grazing across the river and fields. We’ve brought friends and family here as well. Our friends from Spain were enchanted by the ducks wandering on the lawn and the big gardens. I treated my mum to afternoon tea on the lawn one summer, and on another visit my aunt and uncle came from Norfolk. It was once again a lovely place for us to spend time together. There are so many pretty spots to enjoy, from the summer gardens to the restaurant, with its historic beams and warm atmosphere. Cristian deserves a special mention for always being friendly and attentive. It means a lot to be remembered and made to feel welcome each time. It’s a truly special place, and we always look forward to coming back.

We had a memorable evening at The Priory, and the food was excellent. The restaurant staff were friendly, cheerful, and thoughtful, while the sommelier was kind, generous, helpful, and knew his stuff. The pianist in the drawing room added to the warm, welcoming feel. It felt like we had a private concert. Thank you.

We had such a great time at the Priory’s wine tasting evening in the Bar on 6th February. Christian, the sommelier, was attentive and really knowledgeable, and the food served with each wine was exquisite. A wonderful experience, and we’ll definitely recommend the evening.

Our son treated us to Sunday lunch at the Priory, and we were delighted with the whole experience. The food and service were superb. Norman was a real asset, and he, Anna, Adrian and Ben all looked after us so well. Thank you!

The champagne and every moment through to the end were handled with such care. Christian and AJ made our engagement celebration at The Priory especially meaningful with their thoughtful, genuine attention. The setting was beautiful, the food incredible, and the service outstanding. It really was the perfect place for such an important time in our lives. We’ll always treasure it. 💛💍🥂
