The Dorset Resort

The chalets are spacious and comfortable, with plenty of parking. There are only two EV charging stations, though, and they’re 7 kWh. I’d highly recommend staying here.

The cottages have a Nordic feel, set among tall trees that make the place peaceful, and the location is stunning. The spacious rooms, cleanliness, good heating and thoughtful design all made our stay fantastic. Each cottage also has a balcony and private sauna, which were the icing on the cake. It felt like a Nordic holiday without actually travelling there.

The setting is lovely, with secluded woodland alongside open fields, and the staff were very friendly, pleasant and accommodating. The complimentary breakfast buffet was acceptable, though basic and a bit greasy. Our room was tired and musty, despite some attempts to modernise it with cheap IKEA-style furnishings. It was also very warm without air conditioning, though there was an adequate pedestal fan. We were near the building entrance and, with the windows open in summer, could hear people smoking and talking loudly outside late at night. A door kept slamming somewhere and shook the whole room. The fans helped cover some of the noise, but the walls are thin, so noise from other rooms might be harder to tolerate in other seasons.

The cabin was clean, fully equipped and very well maintained, and the powerful showers and private sauna were lovely extras. We stayed for two weekend nights and found the cabin itself perfect, with beautiful surroundings. The only downside was that guests in nearby cabins were a little too noisy after midnight. That’s no reflection on the resort and wouldn’t stop me booking again. It deserves its five-star rating.
