Rose & Crown

The Inn’s central spot in town made it easy to get to the places we needed for a friend’s wedding. We also had a group dinner in a lovely private room, crackers included, and everyone enjoyed the meal. It was well beyond ordinary pub food. We stayed for the wedding weekend. The rooms aren’t luxurious, but they’re spacious, with comfortable beds and an ensuite bathroom, plenty for a weekend in historic Warwick.

The fish and chips were so good that the wait didn’t bother me. The haddock batter was crisp and piping hot, with firm but tender fish inside, and the freshly fried chips were so moreish we couldn’t stop eating them. Better than what we usually find at fish and chips shops. The satay chicken wings were another favourite, with a fragrant, rich sauce and lots of peanut flavour. My husband thought the steak burger patty was a little dry, though he liked the sauce. I didn’t try it, so can’t say more. We came for lunch today and were very impressed.

We had a family get-together for 17 in the private woodshed room between Christmas and New Year. The team handled a large group so well, and all our different dishes arrived together, hot and delicious. Everything was cooked well. We’ll definitely be back soon.

The bathroom was clean and brightly lit, and when we raised our concerns on the way out, the staff apologised and offered breakfast on the house. We turned it down. I’m guessing things are better now. The room itself wasn’t great. It was quite dark, and the chairs needed a deep fabric clean. The only usable socket was loose and hanging off, with no socket by a mirror for my wife to do her hair. We were also woken quite early because our room was above the kitchen.
