The rooms are basic but comfortable, and the staff are wonderful. The location is brilliant. I was worried before I arrived, but was pleasantly surprised. It can get cold, so thicker duvets in winter might help. If you want five-star accommodation, pay five-star prices! Thanks windsor, can't wait to come back.

We had a good short break, and the friendly, cheerful staff were always willing to help. Breakfast was really enjoyable, and the hotel and rooms were clean and tidy. Our room was very spacious, with enough room for my wife's mobility scooter. The double sofa bed wasn't the most comfortable we've slept on, though, and the garden outside the window was an eyesore that needed a proper tidy. The area around the front also needs a lot of work. Getting into our downstairs room wasn't straightforward for my wife. She had to wait outside at the rear fire exit while I went through the building to open the door for her. That's not ideal in wet or cold weather, or if you're alone on a mobility scooter. A ramp over the couple of steps down to the rooms could remove the need to wait outside. The lift wasn't working, which I'd expected after reading other reviews, and was why I'd booked downstairs. The website photo is misleading: it shows a Spanish city, not the hotel. A picture of the front would give customers a truer idea. I also believe the hotel is used as homeless accommodation. We had no problems and it didn't affect our stay, but customers should be told, as it could worry someone else.

The room was big and clean, with cosy beds, and it was ideal for one night at that price. Reception staff were lovely. I'd use it again if we came for another concert at the playhouse or a day out. Breakfast was cooked to order and a good portion, even for a fussy eater like me. The dark-haired lady serving it was all smiles, and the food and service were great.

Don't stay here. The place was grim, worn out, dirty and dated from the lobby through to the rooms. I had to move because the first room's linen was dirty, and both bath towels in the next room had several hairs on them. There were stains on the walls, floors and carpet, which was worn and badly fitted. Mould covered areas around the windows and in the bathroom, and there were water stains on the ceiling. A lamp post right outside made the useless curtains barely block the light, and there was lots of street noise. The walls were paper-thin. I spent ten minutes listening to the person next door being violently sick. Other reviews mention a halfway house or homeless shelter; judging by the guests and state of the place, they seem right. I was only there for one night and still checked out at 4 a.m. just to get away. You couldn't pay me to return. Vile.

Dear Windsor Hotel General Manager, I'm making a formal complaint about a female receptionist's inappropriate and unprofessional conduct during my stay. Her behavior has gone well beyond her job and has made me feel uncomfortable and distressed. She has repeatedly pushed conversations about a personal relationship, despite clear signs that this is unwelcome and unnecessary. She's also made unwarranted assumptions about my personal life. Her manner has felt overly attached and persistent, which I consider completely inappropriate in a professional setting. A receptionist's role should be limited to professional matters such as check-in, check-out and genuine service requests, rather than pursuing personal contact. I'm currently unavailable, and expect my privacy to be respected. Please resolve this immediately and tell the staff member to stop pursuing a personal relationship or contacting me unnecessarily for the rest of my stay. I trust you'll treat this complaint seriously, with the discretion and professionalism needed to ensure this conduct no longer compromises my stay. Please confirm what steps you'll take. Sincerely,
