The room was clean and comfortable, so it did the job for an overnight stay. There isn’t much nearby to do, though, and the hotel itself has very little to offer. Food and drink choices were already sparse, and on my visit quite a few menu items weren’t available. There was no red wine by the glass either. Service in the restaurant was poor. My olives and very dry flatbread arrived alongside a sausage and mash that seemed overheated or reheated. I also watched a group of four get their meals at different times, even though the plates should have arrived together. Maybe the microwave or oven couldn’t keep up. With nowhere open close enough to walk to in the cold, wet darkness, that left few alternatives. And 30 minutes of free internet these days is pathetic. At least the 5G mobile signal was good.

Micheal made sure my room was booked for the right time, which was a big help. I stayed from Saturday through Monday and felt confident I’d be looked after. The room was lovely, too. I had the best experience with travel lodge at caterham and would definitely come back. I’ll tell my friends to book here when they visit caterham.

The housekeepers had my chosen room spotless and ready before the early check-in time on my last visit, so thanks to them. I’ve stayed at this travelodge for years and it’s usually good value, with comfortable rooms and friendly staff. There’s always been a warm welcome when I arrive, and the rooms are even better now that some have been upgraded. Stuart or Louis the managers are very helpful, and Pearl or Foster cook a lovely breakfast. I especially like the porridge. It’s a nice place to stay when I’m in the area.

The breakfast looked lovely, but none of it had any taste. I paid £21.50 for two breakfasts, and it felt like a waste. Never again.

The place has been completely refurbished and looks good, with easy, free parking. It’s handy for the motorway, about 1-2 mls away, and the bus and whyteleafe rail station are a three minute walk. Radius Arms is a must visit, just a five minute bus ride away, and the exceptional Royal Tandoori is next to Radius.
