Number Fifteens of Swinley

Five days after staying here, I’m covered in hundreds of blistering, intensely itchy bites, and I’ve already taken 11 Piriton antihistamines. That’s what followed a night when I woke early for work, pulled back the sheets, and found bed bugs crawling there, with blood spots where I’d squashed them. I phoned the pub to report it. The bar lady apologised and said the manager would contact me, but nobody did. This place is filthy and shouldn’t be renting rooms. Stay at your own risk. I posted a similar review last week and it was taken down, so I’ll keep sharing this. I don’t want anyone else to go through the same thing.

We left that evening because there was no heating or hot water in the room. A power cut happened too, and it seemed convenient, almost like an excuse for not providing either. The place looked terrible to us, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

The building had plenty of character, and the staff were friendly. I was walking the Leeds to Liverpool canal and stayed here along the route. It was good value and well located. I went to bed early and left early to carry on walking, so didn’t try any of the beers. I forgot to fill in the hotel book because I had no pen, but I’d stay again if I were in Wigan.

I paid 60 pound for one night and left really upset. There was no heating or hot water, and I wasn’t offered a refund or anything. It wasn’t the best, despite it being the best.
