The location and prices are good, and the building itself is really nice. Our room was spacious, warm and comfortable.

The house's history, displayed on the wall in our room, was a lovely touch and I really enjoyed reading it. It's a beautiful building with lovely grounds, and although it's old, our room was clean and comfortable with a comfy bed. I was a bit concerned after seeing recent reviews, but I can't say enough good things about the place. Parking is tight, though it wasn't a problem as long as everyone was reasonable. The only noise we heard came from the road, which nobody can do anything about. They don't serve food, and when we checked in the owner's dinner smelled lovely, haha. If we can get a booking next time we're heading to Scotland, we'll definitely come back.

I was working in the area and thought this place would suit, but it felt like I'd overpaid even at that price. On arrival the set-up was so odd I wondered if it was a fake hotel. Nobody answered the door for ten minutes, so I had to phone to get in. A young lad greeted me, checked me in and handed over the keys. The rooms are very dated and need some TLC, though they could be decent with that work.

For such a low price, it was a bargain, and I slept amazingly well for me. The room matched the pictures, with a clean, very comfortable bed and huge shutters instead of curtains. The bathroom was nice, though it was across the way, as I'd expected. I'd read lots of terrible reviews and was a little worried, but was pleasantly surprised. The front door and bell felt a bit out of character for the property. Since my ground-floor room was right beside reception, I could imagine the hard floors and doors carrying noise. Apart from someone coming in around 11, it was quiet for me.
