The room was comfortable, clean and nicely kept. Our meals looked good, though my food was a bit bland and my husband liked his burger. Service was polite whenever we managed to find someone. We seemed to be the only guests, and only found out at check-in that breakfast wasn't available, which was really disappointing. When we left, nobody was around to say goodbye, so we put the key in the drop box.

Longs felt like a proper local, with a friendly barmaid and comfy seats by a roaring log burner. After a wet, muddy walk around the Woburn Abbey deer park, we wanted a Diet Coke or a cuppa somewhere we wouldn't feel awkward about our windswept hair. It was just right, and the Diet Cokes were the cheapest I've ever found.

The roast was so good I nearly licked the plate, though my wife stopped me 😋🤣. We weren't sure where to have lunch, but the lovely-looking menu and beautiful building drew us in. Inside it's small and quirky, and the food tasted like a hearty, perfect home-cooked meal. The service was amazing too. They couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful with everything we asked for.

The staff were welcoming and accommodating when I stopped in after a country walk around the Woburn estate. I started with a pint of Guinness, which was perfect, then had the trio of roast dinner. It was first class, especially the roast beef, cooked blushing pink just as it should be. Well recommended if you're in the area!

Longs was a friendly, cosy place to spend the night in Woburn, and incredible value. I stayed overnight last weekend and would highly recommend it. One small disappointment: I'd been looking forward to the cooked breakfast advertised when I booked, but when I left around 09.00am on Sunday there were no staff on duty and no sign of food being cooked. Maybe I just chose a bad day, never mind.
