The beds were comfortable and clean, and the staff are consistently friendly, helpful and welcoming. There’s also a large, secure car park, with some rooms overlooking it. For a budget-friendly stay close to the pubs, it’s good value, and I’ll keep booking when I’m visiting Wolves. This was my second stay at The Connaught Hotel. Although it’s recently been renovated, there’s still work to do. The corridors look tired, and the rooms have fresh paint and a few modern touches but still feel unfinished. It’s a clean, comfortable place to rest at night.

I stopped here the other week, and the room I had was much improved. The refurbishments seem to be going well, and parking is included in the room price, unlike at other budget hotels. Every time I stay, this hotel gets better. For a budget price, my room tonight is amazing. See pics.

I forgot my £50 deposit, then got seriously ill and had to go to hospital. They first lied and said they could return it by bank transfer. The extremely rude manager with the twangy voice, you’ll know who he is, made me send proof I was in hospital before I could get the money back. I’m not from Wolves, and then I couldn’t get my deposit back. He later offered me a free night at the hotel, which is a hole and not properly cleaned. They also tried to take my £80 when we went with friends because we needed more rooms. There’s a limit of two people per room, and we decided not to go through with the booking. Disgusting.

The refurbishment meant there were no meals, and the bar was unavailable because of a party. In the room, the windows wouldn’t shut, so there was a cold draught, the bedside lights didn’t work, and the TV was out of order. The shower was only usable as a handheld. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a good stay.
