Rob and his team at the Woodstock Arms made an important day even better. I’d mentioned in advance that we were celebrating a special occasion, and they handled it perfectly. The service was warm, relaxed, and professional, never over the top, and we felt genuinely looked after. The food was outstanding and well priced. A faultless experience, well worth the visit. We’ll definitely come back.

What stood out most was the extraordinarily good service. No request felt like too much trouble, and the staff and owner clearly wanted us to have a restful, enjoyable stay. I’ve just come back from two relaxing nights at this lovely pub, and it felt like being welcomed by old friends from the very first greeting on a busy day. Even the phone contact before we arrived was friendly and first rate. This is my perfect pub: locals clearly love it, there’s a real fire and plenty of places to sit, the food is good, and every staff member gave fabulous service. I won’t single anyone out, but Pepe, the adorable Black Labrador “house dog”, deserves a shout-out for melting everyone’s heart. We had dinner there both nights. The menu was varied and good, especially the delicious Cornish fish soup, and portions were generous. The cooked breakfast was amazing too. My room was peaceful and comfortable, with a large bed, and I slept really well. It’s an old pub, not a modern hotel, so there are a few quirks, like quite narrow stairs to the rooms. To me, that only adds to the charm. A wonderful stay, and I’ll definitely visit again.

The staff were incredibly friendly and didn’t mind me keeping the table for a while as I painted and drew. I’d walked over from Blenheim Palace for Sunday roast at the Woodstock Arms, and I don’t think I’ve ever had a bigger or tastier one. The beef was delicious, with all the classics: Yorkshire pudding, gravy, potatoes, and vegetables. Delicious!

The food menu had a good selection of local seasonal dishes, and the breakfast was outstanding. The breakfast staff were well trained and made it feel like nothing was too much trouble. It’s a pleasant hotel, with attentive staff and a good range of beers. The bar gets very busy on Saturday evenings, so I’d recommend booking a dinner table in advance.

The food was incredible, and I still can’t stop thinking about the French Onion soup. Both dinner and breakfast were served in the pub below our room, and every staff member we met was friendly and attentive. Our room had everything we needed, including a powerful shower, tea and coffee facilities, and a comfy bed. I slept so well. We’d booked The Buttery at Woodstock for our annual Halloween trip to Blenheim Palace, but they cancelled at the last minute because they were suddenly closing down. Luckily, we managed to get a room at The Woodstock Arms, and we’re so glad we did. Woodstock itself is gorgeous, and the location is perfect for Blenheim Palace, but the inn was the best surprise. The building is inviting from outside, and inside there was a cosy fire, charming decor, and the friendliest staff. What started as a last-minute panic that nearly ruined our plans turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We’d never have experienced The Woodstock Arms otherwise. This is our new regular place when we stay in Woodstock. I’d highly recommend staying, or visiting just for the food and staff. Thank you for making our stay incredible!
