Minster

The Minster Hotel is still my favourite in York. The reception, kitchen and dining staff are all wonderful, friendly, efficient and kind. Breakfasts are cooked to order and top notch. It's always a relaxing stay.

The reception staff were very friendly, the room was really spacious, and the bed was enormous. We enjoyed a good cooked breakfast, and had a lovely stay overall. The trouble was the heat in the room. Turning off the radiator made no difference, and at times it felt like sleeping in a sauna, which was quite unbearable and uncomfortable. I opened the window even though we were on the ground floor, which wasn't ideal but felt necessary. Aside from that, I'd recommend the place.

The staff and guests had a great rapport, and the team couldn't have done more for us. Jack (John) on the night shift and Gemma at reception and in the restaurant made a real difference by helping us get the extras we wanted. Both couples had their needs met, including two ground-level rooms as requested. Rooms 18 and 19 were very clean and had shower toiletries, soap, tea, coffee and biscuits. Breakfast had everything we could want: a wide self-service continental selection and an excellent full English served at the table. The car park was great, with free parking when booking direct, and booking directly also saved us 30.00 across two rooms plus the car. The hotel was very welcoming and an easy, flat ten-minute walk from York centre.

We'd just got home after our annual visit to the Minster Hotel York with friends. It's still one of our favourite breaks. The location, rooms and breakfast are all first class, and the staff especially stand out. Having a private car park is a bonus too.
