The lobby was great, and it was handy that they offered pizzas until 1am. The breakfast was average. Our room was good, with a powerful shower and shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided, which was a nice touch. The bed wasn't the most comfortable, though, and the room stayed really hot even with the window open.

There are plenty of places to sit around the check-in and bar area, from sofas to individual chairs, and every guest gets a welcome drink. Check-in was easy. There's also a fun mix of things to do, including a photo booth, table football, pool, board games and a couple of arcade games. The room was small but laid out well, with a soft yet comfortable bed and a nice hot shower. You need a card to use the lift and get into the room. From our window we had a partial view of the Minster. Breakfast cost £15 if booked the day before or £18 on the day. After checking prices at nearby cafés, we thought it was a bargain. It included cheeses and meats, fresh fruit and yogurts, cereals, hot options, and unlimited tea and coffee. There was a good range of beers, lagers and cocktails too, at £9.50 each or two for £16. We ordered a Long Island Iced Tea Pitcher for £15 and got an unbelievable five glasses each! The location was great, with parking nearby, about a ten-minute walk to the Shambles and twenty minutes to York Minster. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional. We'd definitely stay again.

There was plenty to do in the open-plan social area on the ground floor. It had a fully stocked bar for alcoholic and soft drinks, some pool tables, a quiet lounge area, and seating for customers until the early hours. They also served a limited choice of food, including burgers and pizzas. A buffet breakfast with all-you-can-eat cooked and continental options was available, and I was able to buy it the evening before. My room was clean and tidy, with an ensuite shower room. The mattress and pillows were super comfortable, and blackout curtains were provided. The Moxy Hotel in york was one of the nicest, most memorable places I've stayed. I'd certainly consider returning and would recommend it to other travellers.

It was easy to get around from here, with buses right outside and only a short walk to the Minster, Shambles and Viking Centre. The breakfast was excellent and covered nearly every option. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, and staff were pleasant from reception through to housekeeping. The rooms were fine, unless you happen to have a heavy-footed deaf person staying above you! Kirsty at reception was especially helpful.

Check-out was before 12pm, so I never felt rushed getting ready to leave. I felt completely chilled here. I booked a queen room; it wasn't huge, but it was a good size, very clean, with lovely sheets and pillows. The lobby was amazing and fun, with foosball, arcade machines, pool and comfortable, cool sofas. The decor is wild, full of nerdy random things that make the hotel feel really fun. They even have a room just for ironing, so you can use the facilities as much as you like without dealing with an ironing board in your room. I usually skip hotel breakfasts because they're a flop, but the £15 all-you-can-eat meal was great value and the food was amazing, with loads of choices for whatever you're in the mood for. They had tomato juice and smoothies ready to take too. Honestly, the best hotel I've stayed in. Five stars, and I'll definitely be back.
