Tower Guest House

The hotel app made everything simple, from getting into the building and room to adjusting the heating. We spent three days there and found the room neat and clean, with a comfortable bed. It’s about an 18-minute walk from York centre, and there’s guest parking if you arrive by car. I’d happily stay again.

We found a couple of places to eat and convenience stores within a 5-10 minute walk, so being in a residential area didn’t feel isolating. York centre, with its restaurants and attractions, is about 15-20 minutes away on foot, and the hotel was very quiet. Our hosts were great, and we enjoyed breakfast. We stayed in room 2, The Japanese Room, which was thoughtfully and individually decorated, with very good facilities and one of the most comfortable beds we’ve slept in. Free parking was a bonus, though the spaces are a bit tight. We’d definitely return if we’re in the area.

Breakfast was delicious and had plenty of choice, and the host was fantastic. I came back after staying here last year, and the Oak Room is still a gem. Its gorgeous gothic Victorian feel suits York in winter, and the room was beautifully decorated, comfortable, and had everything I needed for a weekend away. The building has loads of character. It’s only a short bus or taxi ride into York, and this will be my go-to whenever I visit.

We parked at the hotel and walked into York, less than 0.9 mile away. The room was fantastic, the staff were friendly, and breakfast was brilliant. We’ll come back.
