Residence Inn Marriott Abilene

The spacious suites at Residence Inn by Marriott Abilene have fully equipped kitchens, so they work well for short trips or longer stays. The hotel feels welcoming and relaxed, with friendly service and handy amenities that make it easy to settle in. A comfortable choice when visiting Abilene.

The staff were the strongest part of my stay. The front desk was polite, maintenance responded quickly, and they eventually offered compensation points, which I appreciated. Still, as a Marriott Gold Elite member who stays at many of their properties, including higher-end brands, I can only give this Residence Inn two stars. It didn’t meet my expectations. When I arrived, my room had a strong sewer-like smell. They sprayed it heavily with industrial deodorizer, which covered the odor but left an overpowering perfume scent. The windows couldn’t be opened, so it lingered. The mattress was badly worn, and I could feel every coil. The room felt tired and needed updating. Between the smell, the furnishings, and the overall experience, it wasn’t the restful stay I expected.

The staff were attentive, and this is a decent option for an extended stay. The breakfast buffet is limited, but it works for a few days. I was hoping to ride the exercise bike at the gym, but it was out of service, and the gym didn’t have much else.

I stayed at Resistance Inn and was surprisingly comfortable. The rooms were clean and quiet, and everything seemed so thoughtfully arranged that it felt like somebody actually wanted guests to sleep well. The staff were the real highlight. They were friendly without putting on an act, helpful without making me feel lost, and patient with whatever chaos guests brought along. Every interaction felt easy, which seems like a hospitality superpower. When things just work this well and the staff make you feel you chose the right place right away, other hotels might have a hard time measuring up. I’d absolutely stay again.
