Rodeway Inn Abilene West

We just needed somewhere to sleep after traveling, and it did the job. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable, though it’s an older motel. There’s a huge enclosed atrium that seems to have been meant for conferences. It could work for a large party or wedding, but it’s mostly unused space now. I heard there used to be an indoor pool, which was filled in with concrete and covered because they didn’t want to maintain it. It does feel a little strange seeing all that empty space.

I was glad I hadn’t read the reviews before arriving, since they made the place sound awful and might have put me off booking. My stay was great, especially for the price. The staff were amazing, the rooms clean, the water hot, and the room got nice and cold.

The bed was a king mattress sitting on a queen box spring, so it sank when I lay down. The sheets were placed over the blanket, some pillows had no covers, and the floor hadn’t been swept. I also had no towels or washcloths. When I asked the front desk, the woman said she didn’t have any. I told her housekeeping hadn’t left any in my room, and all she said was “oh!” Absolutely horrible experience. I’d never stay here again. If you’re thinking of booking, change your mind. I’d rather sleep in my car than put up with this crap hole.

For what this hotel costs, it’s a real bargain. I’ve paid a lot more for places like it. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable, the TV and refrigerator worked, and the shower stayed hot. We had amazing customer service too. We’ll definitely be back.
