Tower Motel

The price felt a little high for a room that would only be worth it with proper housekeeping. I walked from the bed to the bathroom and the bottoms of my feet were completely black. Looking more closely, I don't think the bathroom had been cleaned at all. It seemed like they only made the bed and hung up towels. The face towels in the bathroom had been used as cooking rags, with burn marks and grease still on them. At 10:30am a man knocked to make sure I was leaving. I was already on my way out, but he was very rude.

The room itself was really nice, clean, and well kept. We had room 132 with a jetted tub, though the smooth tiles around it are easy to slip on. The location isn't great and it's very close to the train tracks, which could be rough if you're not used to that. The service put us off from the start. At check-in, the woman said the computer wasn't working and she couldn't find our reservation, but after my wife urged her to look again, she found it on a printer. She first said we only had one night, then saw we had two after my wife reminded her. We got an old-fashioned key that only worked on the knob, not the deadbolt. The woman had to come unlock it and said they leave them locked because people sometimes come back and try to get in. I figure they could make copies of the keys, but at least the deadbolt works. The next day they said they couldn't give us more towels because they were locked up. We gave up expecting good service. At checkout at 9:15am, 45 minutes before checkout time, the office was empty except for a note saying 'back in 15 minutes' with no start time. We waited until 9:30, though the checkout itself was quick. Great room, but the service and location mean we won't return.

The Tower Motel is a good place, very clean and updated. I just left Frontier Inn, and that place was dirty and smelled awful. I paid $175 a week there, then a day later they moved me from the front to the alley. The carpet was stained, dirty, and stinky, towels were stained and dirty, and there was dirt and dust everywhere. I tried warning other customers because I was just trying to help, but they got upset and told me to stop.

Trains, three of them, are the main thing to know. They weren't enough to ruin the trip, just an annoyance. The bed was good and comfortable, the service was good, and restaurants are very close. You get what you paid for.
