Red Roof Inn PLUS+ Dallas – Addison

We were woken at 10 a.m. by a gas powered pressure washer on the doormat, with exhaust fumes coming into our room. I filmed it, and the workers immediately swore at me and said I couldn't take pictures. At the office, they insisted fumes couldn't get in with the door shut and said it was "working time." Our clothes all smelled like gas. Then I found they'd charged me twice, and they said the money could take 3-7 days to come back. I still haven't received the extra charge. Scam and theft, this place is terrible. The hotel was run down and disgusting. We asked for a refund right away, but they refused because we booked through a third party app, so we stayed. They threatened a $200 fine if we smoked or vaped anywhere on the property, not just in the room.

I stayed for 10 days while moving to Dallas, with my two dogs. The first dog was free and the second cost $15 a day. After that long a stay, I felt they could have worked with me on the fee. Housekeeping did a superb job keeping the rooms clean, and the ladies were really nice. Management was polite and helpful, too. I wasn't keen on the location, and there seemed to be a lot of full time residents, some of whom looked a bit shady. I used the laundry room once and found a tiny baggie with white residue on top of a washer. That's only a guess, but I think we both know what it was. Front desk staff regularly walked around the property, so I wondered whether they knew what was going on and wanted to keep the place full.

There was no parking for guests when we needed it. A busy hookah bar next door fills the lot at night, so we had to park down the street and walk. Breakfast isn't provided here, either. The front desk was slow and rude, and we waited an hour in the lobby to check out. They also hold deposits longer than any other place I've stayed. We'll keep going to Sonesta down the road instead. The rooms and service are much better, parking is $5 a night with a guaranteed spot, and my deposit was back in my bank the same day. We tried this hotel because it was closer to where we needed to be this trip.

My key card failed almost every time the cleaning team came by, so I had to walk all the way back to the front desk. Nobody has time for that, and the inconveniences just kept coming. Worse, there were roaches. Don't stay here if you don't want to share a sleepover with pests. If you can still cancel, do it. A hotel with an infestation like this should be shut down for a health code violation. We don't pay to deal with pests. The location is nice, but it isn't worth it.
