My room was one of the newly renovated ones, and it was a treat. The decor was tasteful and modern, the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom looked fantastic. They also leave complimentary water in the room, which is a nice touch. I suspect a lot of the negative reviews are about the older, unrenovated rooms. The hotel is right beside the 101, handy for travel, and the price is reasonable for the area. There was plenty of parking, so I never had to look for a space. Renovations are still underway, but the amenities are already good. The Club Lounge on the ground floor was serving great dinner appetizers and delicious desserts after 8:00 p.m. The food was exceptional for an American hotel, second only to the standards I’m used to at hotels abroad. The staff were all top-notch, friendly, professional, and welcoming. They clearly care about the guest experience. I recommend staying here, and once the rest of the building is up to the standard of the new rooms and food service, it could easily be the go-to spot in Agoura Hills. I attached plenty of photos to show what I mean, including pictures of the outlets by the bed. One review said the outlets were close together. That was true on one side, but the other side had plenty of outlets for the devices you’d need.

For our wedding weekend, the Sheraton Agoura Hills worked well as a home base. It was close to our venue, our guests enjoyed their stays, and both the rehearsal dinner and breakfast at the hotel went smoothly. The staff were kind and accommodating, the food was good, and guests had fun gathering at the bar after the wedding. They worked with us on the room block and budget. We did have to remind them about vegan, pescatarian, and kids’ meal needs, but those were taken care of and our guests were happy.

The staff and setting were great, and the manager was sympathetic when we ran into problems. They gave us two complimentary breakfast buffet coupons, which we appreciated. The AC didn’t work, and after three attempts we had to change rooms. Then the TV kept glitching and eventually needed a reset because it apparently overheated. It was good that staff sorted things out quickly, but dealing with those problems was a hassle. I hope a future visit goes more smoothly. The hotel has potential to be five-star. The beds and rooms are very nice, and there’s a neat outdoor area with fire pits, a small bar, and a decent gym. The breakfast restaurant is basic, and there’s a pool, though we didn’t use it. It’s not easy to walk anywhere from here, but food, drinks, and shopping are a short drive away.

The loud construction noise was difficult to deal with, so I’d stay somewhere else while work is going on. We were there Saturday and Sunday nights and heard banging, sawing, and drilling all afternoon both days. No one mentioned the construction at check-in, there was no front desk sign, and it wasn’t on the website. Our bartender Chris was awesome and told us they were working from the top down. We had a beautiful updated suite on the top floor, with a mountain view from the patio, but we could also see a row of toilets sitting on the patios below. My husband used the jacuzzi, and only one jet worked. Both breakfasts were delicious, though they cost almost as much as the buffet. We booked a King Suite with a Balcony and Lounge Access, but at check-in we were told the lounge was only for Platinum Members and we couldn’t go in. When I questioned it, the staff member said we’d only booked a regular suite. That wasn’t right: when I checked our reservation at home, it showed we had booked lounge access. I’d consider returning after the construction is finished.

Renovation work is underway, and parking gets quite difficult at night. I was given an upgrade to a floor where all the carpet had been torn up, leaving sticky glue on the floors that stuck to my shoes. The elevators guests were told to use were out of order, too. Eventually I reached the room and found the door standing open, not even latched. It made me uneasy, so I asked for another room. The front desk was helpful and arranged one. The second room was locked and secure, though it was missing the peephole cover. Cold air came through the window, and you could feel the draft if you sat in the chair. The room had a fresh look, but there was no hairdryer or bathroom trash can. The bedroom outlets are meant to be fancy, but some of the close-set three-prong wall sockets wouldn’t let me plug in two things at once.
