I stopped at this hotel on a road trip and was surprised by how clean and comfortable it was. I slept better than I had all night. I’d recommend it and would even plan a trip just to stay here.

I checked in around 11 p.m. and was hit by a strong insecticide smell that lingered for hours. By 4 a.m. I was badly nauseated, rushed outside, and vomited as soon as I got to my car. I felt exhausted but had to keep driving in the freezing weather. This was the most frightening motel stay I’ve ever had. Management should never spray harmful chemicals in guest rooms. I’ll never stay here again.

I stayed here for about a week during my first stretch at a new job in Alamo. The host asked which themed room we wanted, with Elvis, Jungle Cats, and Aliens as the choices. I picked Aliens, and the creepy little alien decorations glowed all night. 10/10. There was also a group of Japanese tourists running between rooms and taking pictures all night. 10/10. The rooms were clean, strange, and unique. And there’s a liquor store inside the motel! It was only stocked now and then, though that was during Covid, so maybe they have regular hours now. 5/5, no notes.

Once we got to the hippie room, my wife was disappointed to see the mushroom chairs had been replaced by padded folding chairs. The floors were sticky and left residue on our feet, the shower was cramped, and the blacklight didn’t work. We were traveling with our two cats because we needed a place that allowed cats. From the moment we arrived, though, we had an uneasy feeling of being watched. A young staff member from Pennsylvania seemed okay, but didn’t know much about the area or any walking trails besides the one behind the building, which belonged to the owners. The owners lived behind the motel, and everything back there was private property. Around midnight, we were woken by what seemed like demonic activity: growling, chanting, and physical assault. We stayed awake for hours praying against it. As a Man of God, I felt I should warn others that there’s more here than meets the eye. We left that morning despite having paid for two nights. After we left, the owner called and said the sticky floors were from “repeated use of pet shampoo.” They also said there were “14 cameras on property and there was no need to feel unsafe.”
