Hampton Inn Alamogordo

A convenient choice for a White Sands NP visit, with ample parking. We chose a top-floor room and heard a little road noise, but it wasn’t too intrusive; overall it was quiet, and we didn’t hear the neighbors. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was the usual Hampton Inn spread, nothing exciting or especially nutritious beyond the apples and bananas. The dining area was crowded.

We stopped here for one night during a cross-country drive. The room was clean and quiet, and the desk person was friendly and helpful. Johnny Carinos is a great restaurant within walking distance. Breakfast was good, with real eggs and cooked oatmeal rather than packets, plus the usual extras. The $75.00 dog charge was hefty, but there aren’t many options near White Sands, which is very close. I’d stay again.

During a winter storm affecting much of North America, I booked a stay at Hampton Inn and tried to cancel for free through Booking more than 24 hours before check-in. The hotel never responded. Later, I needed a no-show invoice for an insurance claim, but again got no reply. The hotel itself may be fine, but the lack of communication and support caused a lot of inconvenience. I hope they become more responsive to future guests.

Truck parking is available along the south street and in a small lot southwest of the hotel, and I didn't see any no-parking signs. The front desk employee, Puck I believe, was really friendly. Hotel Engine had prepaid my incidentals incorrectly, but she called them and sorted it out in just a few minutes.
