SureStay Plus by Best Western Alamogordo White Sands Hotel

Windy made us feel welcome as soon as we checked in, and Heather, the morning receptionist, was kind and very accommodating. The hotel also lent us sleds in the morning, a fantastic extra for a day at the dunes. We had a comfortable stay at SureStay Plus Hotel by Best Western Alamogordo. It's an excellent location for White Sands National Park, just a short drive away. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone visiting.

After nearly 16 hours of travel, I arrived late to find that the confirmed king nonsmoking room booked through my company was suddenly unavailable. The clerk sent me to room 212. Dead bugs were everywhere, every surface was dirty, and the sheets looked slept in and unchanged, with pubic hair, blood, bugs, and fluids on them. The furniture was dirty and stained too. The claim that this is a renovated hotel is a lie. The desk clerk didn't seem surprised by the condition, though she apologized. She gave me a second key for room 201, but it was just as filthy, with hair and dirt in the sheets. A unit was broken and loud. I had to find another hotel in the middle of the night instead of getting the room that had been advertised. Don't spend your money here. The bugs and unsanitary conditions could cost you more in the end.

The price was very good, and the staff were friendly. It's easy to get to White Sands National Park from here. The place is somewhat dated but clean, with a comfortable bed, good TV channel selection, and excellent window coverings. Breakfast was decent. The shower and towels were only so-so, and the pillows were small and squishy.

Windy welcomed us when we arrived after a long journey, and check-in went smoothly. I'd called ahead to ask for a downstairs room for an elder. We were in town for a celebration of life and stayed two nights, not knowing quite what to expect. Windy was a lovely kindness at the end of that trip. The next morning, Tory was professional, helpful, and knew the local area well. Heidy handled breakfast beautifully. Everything was hot and fresh, and the area was clean. What a lovely little place. We'll be back.
