Comfort Inn Albert Lea at Trails Travel Center

Our family enjoys staying at Comfort Inn and we'll keep coming back. It's welcoming, with clean, comfortable rooms and a nice, well-kept pool area. It's also very kid-friendly, which is a big plus for us.

I spent three weeks here, and I won't choose Comfort Inn again. The room looked clean when I arrived, but housekeeping didn't maintain it properly unless I asked, and even then the cleaning was marginal. Staff replaced towels regularly but didn't make the beds, sweep, wipe surfaces, or always empty the trash. The toilet and sink weren't cleaned at all during my stay, so I cleaned the sink myself. The in-room sign said linens would be changed every three days, but that was only on request. I asked, stripped the bed, and came back to find they'd skipped it. The one staff member running the front desk had to sort it out and did a much better job than the cleaning staff. I don't think this hotel cleans regularly, or they'd be better at it. The fitness room shown in the photos is a joke: it's gross, with a sketchy workout bench and a cable machine that has problems of its own.

Amy, the manager, went above and beyond after we had to stay two nights in Albert Lea, MN, on our way to Arizona because of really bad weather. My husband had left his diabetes test kit in the room, and Amy sent it on to him. The staff also kept us updated on road conditions and were very accommodating. Amy is a winner. Thank you!

We were crossing a few states when a blizzard changed our plans, and the hotel helped us get off the highway and into a warm room. We called from our usual truck stop to ask about availability because we didn't want to keep driving in unsafe conditions. They were letting everyone check in early so travelers could get off the road. I'm grateful for their hospitality and for helping keep us and other travelers safe. I'd stop here again if the weather called for it. Just wish we'd packed our swimsuits!
