The price was reasonable next to other places, but this was our worst stay of the three times we’ve been here, despite paying more this trip. In room 16, the room was mostly clean, although there was a stain on the side of the mattress on one of the two queen beds, the one by the bathroom wall. All the mattresses felt like rocks, and the showers weren’t as good this time either. The place seemed full, so I didn’t ask to switch rooms. On earlier trips, my husband and a friend had been delighted with the cleanliness, comfortable beds, and hot showers with good pressure. They even wanted to buy the same shower head. My husband stayed with a friend last week in room 22 and said that stay was much better, so I suppose we’ll ask for that room if we come back. The police department and prison nearby meant sirens going off and on all night.

The staff made us feel welcome and were really helpful, and the picnic tables were a nice spot to relax over our evening meal. We had a simple, clean, comfortable room for the night while biking the Erie Canal. Dollinger’s worked out great for us, and we’d stay there again.

It was easy to find and nice and quiet. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the front desk staff were friendly and accommodating. Having a coffee pot, fridge, and microwave was really helpful.

They eventually returned my money, but I still wouldn’t feel comfortable staying here again. Being accused of stealing is serious, and in my view they needed to check thoroughly before making that accusation. The hotel called to say it was an honest mistake, but I can’t in good faith change my rating. An apology doesn’t undo being accused of theft, and an accusation made without an investigation amounts to libel. I was charged $100 after being accused of taking a microwave and pillows. The first person I spoke with on Saturday evening was condescending and rude, basically told me to go away, and said they’d do nothing because I “did steal” the pillow. That person later called back, confirmed I wasn’t the last guest in the room and shouldn’t have been charged, and apologized. They agreed to refund me, but I hadn’t received it yet when I called a couple of times to follow up.
