Econo Lodge Albuquerque Old Town

We found it easy to get around on foot from here, including to Old Town, the zoo, aquarium, and botanical garden. Breakfast was excellent, with fruit, sausages, eggs, yogurt, and several kinds of bread served on real plates with proper cutlery. Our room was very clean, and service was very good. There was a fridge and microwave in the room, plus fast internet. The neighborhood felt safe, and a bus stop is nearby. Public transportation in Albuquerque is FREE.

We could walk to El Vado and Old Town from this inexpensive motel. Since it sits right on Central, your experience may vary, but it felt quiet and pretty safe to us. The king room was a bit dingy-looking, though clean and comfortable. It had a fridge and microwave. Remember to turn the fridge up according to the instructions, I missed that. Breakfast was a decent continental one.

The lobby had a cozy feel and positive energy, and the scenery around the hotel is beautiful. It’s a handy spot for anyone wanting to see Old Town Albuquerque. After a long trip, I really appreciated being welcomed with a smile. The staff were so kind and went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. I had a great experience at this Econo Lodge.

BUG ALERT. I was in town while my semi truck was being worked on, and the dealership pointed me to this hotel. I called, but the person on the phone couldn’t understand which dealership I meant. Then the so-called “courteous shuttle” arrived, a Prius driven by the hotel’s maintenance guy. I stayed three nights and got no service, no fresh towels or linen. On the second night I felt itchy, and thought it might be the sheets, since some linens make me itch. The next night I woke up with lots of marks that looked like bites, maybe spider bites. I searched for BED BUG BITES online, and the pictures looked similar to mine. After I showered, I noticed a RED BUG CRAWLING on the towel on the bed. I packed some things right away and put the rest in plastic bags. I took the towel to the front desk and showed the guy. He looked at the bug, squashed it with his finger, then said to talk to the manager, who would be in the office in two hours. I left and washed everything. Nobody called me back. I tried calling several times and was told either that she wasn’t there or that she was in a meeting. At that point it felt like I was being avoided. I’m a truck driver and live in my truck. If I hadn’t noticed those bites and had gone back with my clothes and bags untreated or unwashed, the result could have been devastating. So definitely blue light room for bed bugs. January 26 2026 update A week later, Kathleen did call me back. I explained what happened, and we worked out an agreement to compensate me for the unfortunate stay. It seemed only right to add that to my review.
