Hampton Inn and Suites Albuquerque Airport, NM

There was a restaurant across the street that delivered right to our room, and the food was actually pretty good. The hotel was clean and right off the interstate, with parking that worked well for trucks. Staff were quick and friendly, and our room was clean and comfortable. The pool and hot tub were clean and nice, though I wish the hot tub had been a bit hotter. Breakfast was on par, checkout was easy, and the stay was pleasant. Thanks to the team.

The app check-in is the one thing that keeps going wrong for me here. I book through the Hilton app as a Hilton Honors member, choose my room, check in ahead of time, and request a digital key so I can go straight to my room. Yet on every visit, at least one thing fails: I either don't get the room I chose or the key never activates, so I have to stop at the front desk anyway, even after checking in hours or a day earlier. It defeats the point of the app, and I don't run into this at most other Hilton properties. I know these are first-world problems, but it's annoying that it happens every time at this one hotel. I stop in Albuquerque on my twice-yearly trips to and from Phoenix and have stayed here at least a dozen times. The rooms are generally clean, the front desk folks are friendly and helpful, and being a little tucked away makes it relatively quiet. The beds aren't the most comfortable, and the AC units are adequate but on the weak side. Those are minor gripes, and I do enjoy staying here. I just wish the app check-in worked like it does at most of the other Hilton hotels I use.

We were really disappointed with how unhelpful the front desk was, and the room choice we made in the app didn't work as expected. We usually choose a top-floor room at Hampton Inn so we don't hear people walking overhead, and had picked one that fit. At check-in we found we'd been put on the bottom floor. The clerk first said there were no top-floor rooms, then, when I pressed, said some were available but switching would be a downgrade and cost another $30. We didn't care about the room or bed size. Edit: The owner's response seemed to miss my point. The app didn't work as expected, and the hotel made no effort to accommodate us.

The shuttle to the airport took under five minutes, and there's a good restaurant just across the road. Our room was spacious and clean, and the service was friendly and helpful. I'd recommend it as an airport hotel.
