Homewood Suites by Hilton Albuquerque Downtown

The entrance was tricky to find, even with Google Maps, partly because construction around the area made the directions to the parking garage unclear. Once I found it, getting around and back into the parking area was straightforward, and a few navigation choices actually became easier. The neighborhood is great for walking to food: Burque Bakehouse, just down Broadway, has amazing coffee and pastries. Farina's is a couple of blocks east for wonderful pizza, and its sister restaurant Artichoke is stupendous. You can walk to both.

The room was huge and we really liked having all that space, but we picked the hotel because it was recommended for families and the stay didn’t feel safe or family-friendly. The area felt sketchy and uncomfortable, and I wouldn’t suggest walking around nearby, even in daytime. On our second night my husband saw a shirtless man in the lobby, wearing shoes, bleeding with blood all over the floor. I’m glad my kid didn’t see it. We also heard cars clearly through the windows throughout the stay. When we reported a broken light at check-in, the desk said someone would come in 10 minutes. After 30 minutes we called again and said they could come while we were out, but we were so tired we stayed in that night. Nobody came, even though we were there. We asked again the next day and still no one showed, so we spent both nights with the broken light.

The room had a nice view and a kitchenette stocked with cooking utensils. It was clean, and the location was convenient, with a quick walk to a coffee shop and a short drive to downtown attractions. Parking was available onsite at no extra charge in a secure garage that requires a room key for entry.

The rooms are nice and so is the staff, but the noise was unbelievable. Cars outside were loud, and we could hear kids running around in the room above us. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
