Motel 6-Albuquerque, NM - South - Airport

I was very disappointed by how Motel 6 handled this. On September 2, 2025, I reserved a room at Motel 6 Albuquerque, NM, South - Airport, but when I arrived, the property was a fenced lot. The building had been demolished and its remains removed. Only the parking lot and signs were left, showing it had once been a Motel 6. A social media search indicated the motel had closed in February 2025, more than seven months earlier, and been demolished in April, about five months earlier. The owner, RELIANSE AVENIDA NM LLC, had sold the property to University of New Mexico. The property no longer existed, yet reservations were still being taken. I spoke with three representatives, including a manager, and none would or could offer compensation or a discount to honor my original reservation price.

At 5:30 pm MST, my wife called to cancel, since the app clearly showed free cancellation until 6 pm MST. The man on the phone was rude and argued with her for ten minutes. Only after he finally asked for our reservation number did he change his tune and acknowledge that it said free cancellation before 6 pm. He assured her we wouldn’t be charged and said he was canceling the room. Seven days later, the $68 charge is no longer pending; it’s been processed. Because of how rudely you treated us, I will never stay here again. You shouldn’t be allowed to call this a Motel 6.

I found this place on Google Maps and was allowed to book it, then drove up to find an empty lot with no building. I had to find another hotel. I was told it had been bulldozed six months ago and that I wasn’t the only person who booked and arrived to find nothing there. This is a scam. Someone needs to be fired. Photos were added to the listing three hours ago today, which seems impossible when there isn’t even a building. Do not come here, this place is a lie.

I arrived for the night I’d booked and found an empty lot behind a fence, so I had to find somewhere else to stay. As of this writing, September 12, 2025, the motel had shut down but was still misleadingly listed as open and available. Even after Motel 6 customer service assured me I wouldn’t be charged, I was still charged for a night at a motel that no longer exists.
