Residence Inn by Marriott Albuquerque North

I’ve stayed at Marriott properties across the country and around the world and usually recommend them as a regular business traveler. This visit left me extremely disappointed. Even though I had a reservation, nobody was at the front desk when I arrived on the evening of November 8th, 2025. I waited 10 minutes, called the property in case it might reach someone’s cell phone, and got no answer. After calling Marriott customer service, I finally reached someone helpful who did everything she could. Still, after a long day on the road, I had to get back in the car and book another property, which cost 16% more. I spent over half an hour trying to check in to the room I’d reserved. I was glad I didn’t have family with me. Imagine waiting that long at 6:30 at night with kids. As I was leaving, the front desk employee finally came through the door and apologized for being away for “5 minutes helping another guest.” She must have been gone at least 30 minutes, given how long it took to attempt check-in, call the property and the global customer service line, and book somewhere else. The hotel was also undergoing renovations that weren’t disclosed during booking, and the lobby smelled of cigarette smoke. 0/10. Would NOT recommend.

The desk staff are really good natured, very nice, and happy to answer questions. I also like that there’s a cook available so you can make your own food. It’s a decent hotel.

I always enjoy staying here, with its friendly staff, good breakfast, and quiet location. They recently renovated, and the rooms are much nicer now, though they weren’t really bad to begin with.

We usually stay here, so I was really disappointed this time. I paid for a room with a sofa bed, but there wasn’t one, even though they charged me for it. They said they’d bring a rollaway bed, but it didn’t come until I asked for the third time. The TV remote didn’t work, and nobody replaced it or came to fix it after I told the front desk. I’d also requested daily housekeeping when I booked, but had to ask for it again. When the housekeeper finally came, they didn’t clean the toilet or sink or vacuum the room. For what it costs per night, the service needs to be better.
