Tru by Hilton Alcoa Knoxville Airport

We were late for breakfast, and although some things had already been put away, the staff went out of their way to let us take what was still there and made sure we got fed. There was a lively, friendly feel from the start, plus colorful, unusual spaces and a pool table. One of our better hotel stays, and we don't often write reviews, but the friendliness and character deserved a mention.

The room was quiet and comfortable, with good bedding, a desk, mini fridge, walk-in glass shower, and free Wi-Fi. The whole property, including the common areas, was immaculate, modern, and brightly decorated. There's a spacious lobby and registration area, breakfast is included, and snacks, drinks, and convenience items are sold there. A pool table sits near the desk. No restaurant on site, but several are close, including Ruby Tuesday next door. It's directly across the street from Knoxville McGhee Tyson Airport, with a complimentary shuttle every 20 minutes. Staff were efficient, professional, and very friendly. It was my first visit to this hotel and my first Tru Hotel stay, and I was impressed. As a Hilton Honors member, I found all the amenities I expect from a Hilton brand property. I even checked in and chose my room through the Hilton Honors app for the first time, and it was easy despite not being very technical. A perfect one-night stay, beautiful facilities, great value, and I'll look forward to coming back to this Tru Hotel in Alcoa, Tennessee.

It wasn't the easiest place to find the first time, though it's okay once you've been there. The rooms were clean and nice, and the hotel was quiet at night. The shower was still hot at 9 AM, though the pressure could've been better. Breakfast was good, especially the pancake maker and all the toppings. The lobby pool table gave the family a fun place to hang out and play a few games. The seating areas are cool, the coffee stations were handy for refilling water bottles, and they offer free flavored water at the main entrance. Dogs are welcome too.

The front desk guy was great and got our stay back on track, but the way things began annoyed me. We were on a long trip with several hotel stops, and I contacted each one at least a week ahead to confirm a pack n play for our baby. They all said it would be in the room. I’m a Hilton Silver member, and other hotels texted through the app to ask if we needed anything after I checked in. This one never did. When we arrived, there was no pack n play. To be fair, the other hotels also hadn't put one in the room on arrival, which wasn't a big deal, but here we were told only two were available and both had been claimed. The desk guy checked that we'd asked well in advance and that the other family hadn't arrived, then brought one over from another room. I do feel bad for that family, and hope their baby was old enough to sleep with them or on a pallet on the floor. This hotel has at least 84 rooms, probably more, so having only two pack n plays is crazy.
