We enjoyed spreading out here by the river, with lovely views across the bay to Bolts Castle. The pool is simple, clean, and a good size. We played games by the dock, had cocktails on the waterfront balcony, and made use of the in-room Jacuzzi. It's an affordable, pleasant place to stay. The night front desk man was especially helpful and knew his stuff. Dogs are welcome, though only in certain parts of the property.

The lobby made us feel welcome right away, with questions answered, hot coffee, and fresh lemon water on ice. We stayed two nights with our service dog and felt comfortable throughout. Our room was clean and comfortable too. We enjoyed Alex Bay and look forward to coming back to Captain Thompsons’s resort.

For a trip with Uncle Sam's Boat Tours, this is a convenient place to stay. We left the car parked and could just walk around the end of the building. The motel was clean and comfortable, and our window looked out at the castle. We'd gladly stay here again.

We had a beautiful castle view, and the bed was very comfortable, but the way our problems were handled was appalling. We arrived at 4 pm for check-in and the room still wasn't ready. When my very pregnant wife raised it with the person at the front desk, they called her hormonal. That's inappropriate to say to anyone, especially a pregnant woman. We also found fecal matter set into the fabric of a bathroom towel. Staff apologized when I pointed it out, but didn't seem to care. Given that casual response, I can't recommend staying here.

We had a beautiful view of Boldt Castle from our balcony, and the room was both clean and updated. Captain Thomson's Resort was a great place to stay. I'd highly recommend it for a visit to the 1000 islands.
