The River Hills Motel - Algoma, WI - Near Door County

I just needed about four hours of sleep after a third shift, and this did the job for the low price. They let me check in early, the beds were clean and comfortable, and the shower had the best water pressure I’ve ever had in a hotel or motel. It could use a little updating.

We had a great first visit, just one night. It’s comfortable, nicely updated, and we liked being able to take the dog straight out for neighborhood walks. The streaming choices on the TV were a nice touch. For extra security, the doors could use deadbolts. If we came in winter, I’d prefer forced air heat.

This was a peaceful, quiet stay and a great value, with a good location for exploring Door County. Cleanliness is what matters most to me when I travel, and even the outdoor area was spotless, with no spider webs. There was good lighting and plenty of room for bags, plus lots of counter space for toiletries. I liked having a dining table and two chairs in the room, and extra tables and chairs outside. A microwave, refrigerator, and Keurig coffee maker were handy. It is a Vintage Hotel with a vintage feel, and the carpeting is dated, so I know not everyone would call it five-star accommodations.

The room was spotless, the beds very comfortable, and downtown was convenient to reach. The sink leaked underneath and only had cold water, no hot. I let the staff know. They emailed after I was already in bed at 11:00, and I didn’t see it until this morning.
