Voyager Inn

The Voyager Inn is the only place to stay in Aliceville, which made this especially disappointing. I was there for my uncle's homegoing service, and the manager was rude when I asked for extra towels. The room wasn't clean either, so I had to wipe down the bathroom and dust the furniture myself. I definitely don't recommend this motel.

The chairs were visibly nasty, and I was afraid to sit on them. When I asked for sheets to cover them, the owner said he didn't have any. The rooms were only half cleaned, with dust on most things, and the remotes didn't work. We stayed two days in three rooms and watched the workers come in to clean, but three hours later the owner messaged me accusing me of taking two ice buckets. I told him where they were, and he said they'd thrown one away because it was dirty. The other was on top of the clothes rack, so how could I have stolen them? They don't even have a working ice machine. He also said he wouldn't rent to any of my family members now. Very disappointing, and sad, bad business.

This is a basic motel, not a luxury hotel, but I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and quiet it was. The people were friendly and check-in was quick. I usually stay at chain hotels like IHG or BW when I travel nationwide for workplace occupational health testing. On my last trip, I asked some of the people I was testing about this motel. They said it wasn't bad, and one said contractors at their plant stay here. I used to stay in Tuscaloosa, almost an hour away, when I came through Aliceville. From now on, I'll stay here when I'm in the area.

The TV had plenty of channels, and the shower water pressure was very good. The room's design felt out of date and could use a style upgrade. It was OK overall. I needed a place after minor damage to a rental near the motel.
