Comfort Inn and Suites North Aurora

We travel for work, but my company and I won’t be coming back. At 10pm, an alarm went off while I was showering, and staff accused us of smoking and gave us 20 minutes to leave. Their follow-up was just as bad: they’re sticking to the policy and backing the desk clerk, with no apology. No one will speak with me, and the email response simply claimed that this is their policy.

The front desk service was fine, but the room wasn’t acceptable, especially when a deposit is held for five business days. There was hair in the shower and toilet, and one bed had streaks on the white sheet that looked like blood or nail polish. Also, don’t treat guests as if they’re the same people who stayed before them. Professional truck drivers should find somewhere else to sleep.

The laundry and water vending machines weren’t working, and the room felt tired too: the chair was torn, the carpet damaged, and it didn’t feel fresh. I tried to pay with a company card I’d used at other hotels in this chain just days earlier. Even after I showed up in a clearly marked company truck, they refused it and wouldn’t let me explain things to a manager. I’d asked for an extra day, but had to find another hotel. Very frustrating.

We were quoted $145 for a walk-in, while the same room was $97 on booking.com. We’d planned on one night and asked to extend after our plans changed, but the rate went up by $40 for a weekday when occupancy didn’t seem higher. When we tried to ask the manager about it, nobody could give us a straight answer, and the manager wasn’t around. Staff were indifferent, if not dismissive. The stale bowl of popcorn had sat out for days without being replaced or refilled. That didn’t inspire confidence about cleanliness elsewhere. I rarely leave a negative review, but this stay felt like neglect with a cash grab on top. There are plenty of other hotels nearby. I wouldn’t recommend staying at Baymont by Wyndham.
