The manager, Matt, was extremely unempathetic, and I found the first-floor-only rule for guests with service animals disturbing and discriminatory. I have a registered ADA service animal for a medical condition, and we were denied a higher floor even though we asked because of noise and allergy concerns. Matt said it was because of allergies, despite my dog being hypoallergenic and thoroughly vetted. She flies with me. I offered to show the medical documentation, but the rule still made no sense to me and seemed to ignore the law. My wife and I are shocked this place has a 4.7-star rating. The rooms were also unpleasant. The first smelled strongly of mildew and was very musty, so we moved. The second smelled like air freshener over vomit, and we had to buy our own Febreze at a gas station down the street. The mattresses had plastic covers that made any movement uncomfortable, and the bedding was badly pilled.

The breakfast was delicious, and the place was exceptionally clean, quiet, and comfortable. Staff were friendly too. It’s easy to get to just off I-70, with gas, food, and other necessities within walking distance.

For a good price, you get a clean, friendly place and a great breakfast. I’d stay here instead of paying the higher prices in Effingham.

There’s a small neighborhood next door that was a nice, safe place to walk our dog. The hotel itself was clean and quiet, with comfortable beds and a decent breakfast selection. Our dog cost an extra $25. At check-in I had to fill in a form with details about him, including that he weighed under 40 pounds. That weight limit caught me by surprise since nobody mentioned it when I called to ask if dogs were allowed. I’ll definitely return and recommend the hotel. It was just right.

The room was spotless, the beds were comfortable, and breakfast was quite satisfactory. It was nice and quiet apart from road noise, which you’d expect. There’s also a large gravel parking area that can fit trucks and buses.
