Holiday Inn Alton

Find another hotel. The place is dirty, the elevators and hallways included, and our shower and toilet didn’t work right. The heated pool was 50 degrees. When we mentioned it at the desk, they told us to take a “polar plunge!” There were pictures of gaming machines, but there weren’t any machines. Our friends had mold in their bathroom too. Signs said the hotel was being remodeled, but we never saw anyone working. We used Choice rewards points for the room, and even that wasn’t cheap enough. I’m done with Choice hotels after this.

My wife had worked all night at the hospital and needed somewhere to stay through a snowstorm before working again that night. This is the only hotel in Alton that makes accommodations for midnight shift hospital workers, and they even gave her a lower rate because she works at the hospital. We called every hotel in Alton. Super 8 wanted $280 for two nights plus a $30 early check-in fee, but still wouldn’t give her a room before 8 a.m. This is the only Alton hotel I’ll recommend. Thank you!

The shower was still a little dirty, with hair in it, and the sink was filthy. There was hair on the toilet too. This used to be my favorite place to stay, but not anymore.

The third room was okay, apart from a TV remote that didn’t work. Since there are no buttons on the TV, I had to go downstairs to get another remote. Before that, our first room had a toilet that didn’t work, and the replacement room had broken AC. Later I went down to get breakfast for my wife and was told we couldn’t take it back to the room.
