Hampton Inn by Hilton Altoona

After more than a week at several Hilton brand hotels, we had plenty to compare this one with. The Saturday night welcome from (going by memory) Brett and sandy? Sandra? really stood out, and they seemed to have made an impression on other guests as well. Everyone on staff was helpful, the breakfast was fantastic, and the clean rooms had decor I liked. We had a great stay and would come back.

The pool and hot tub were fantastic, breakfast was mostly good, and the front desk staff were friendly and very helpful. I'm just not much of a kielbasa and Western omelette guy. The real problem was the bathroom in room 530. I paid $200 that night, and it was disgusting enough that I had to clean it before using it. Housekeeping needs to do better. See the pictures. That's why I'm giving two stars.

The breakfast was delicious and well stocked, and there was easy access with plenty of parking. Our room was right by the elevator, so I expected noise, but heard nothing outside the room. It was wonderful and sparkling clean, and I've already recommended the hotel to my father-in-law. The one drawback was no changing table in the main-floor public restroom after breakfast. It was so clean that I just used a mat and changed my baby's diaper on the floor, so it wasn't a big issue.

You don't hear people next door here, and the doors close gently on their own, so nobody's slamming them in the middle of the night. The pillows and bed could be better, though.
