The room had several annoying issues: the bathroom light came on by itself at night, the sink only worked if I twisted it up and to the right, one thermostat quit on day two, and the sofa bed was small. The fire alarm lights blinked, so I covered them with wax earplugs. I was also texted to ask if I needed blankets, pillows, toilet paper or tissues, but none ever arrived. The little luggage carts barely fit anything, so we needed two, though check-in was easy and the key cards worked well. Breakfast had plenty of choices at first, but milk was gone by 9 and ran out again within five minutes after I asked for more. They also ran out of waffle batter, syrup and butter, and the attendants didn't seem to care. A waffle-making counter would keep people from crowding the irons while adding toppings. Better heating options, an ice machine, larger cups and plates, and a juice machine that works before breakfast would help too. The pool was warm and had towels and an accessible lift, but hardly any seating. A larger pool, adult hot tub and sauna would be nice. Outside, there's a patio with comfortable chairs and a fire pit, and parking is good. It's near Adventureland, gas stations and food. It's a nice place with or without kids, but a King suite costs close to $250 a night. I've had better stays around Denver for about $85. This is Des Moines, not a major tourist destination, so the price feels high. I'd only come back if I needed two rooms and other hotels were full.

We found a spotless, roomy room that worked well for all six of us, and breakfast and lobby coffee were both a 10 out of 10. The staff were really friendly, and the rooms and amenities felt top-notch. Our granddaughter got sick while we were traveling, so we had to stop earlier than planned. This was the first place we saw after getting off I-80. They had a room available, and check-in took under five minutes. We won't be disappointed staying here again!

The room was decent and breakfast was good, but I didn't feel safe during my stay. A man and woman were fighting in the hallway right by my room, yelling threats like “I'm going to kill you” and “I'm going to set you on fire” while throwing things around in their room. It kept me from sleeping and left me scared for my safety. I messaged the front desk through the app and got no reply. When the argument kept going, I called three times with no answer. The man eventually left, and I hurried down the hall to the elevators and front desk. I waited there at least 30 minutes, but nobody was working the desk. I understand someone might step away briefly, but there was literally no one there. After a few more hours of the woman screaming on the phone, I managed to sleep. I contacted Hilton afterward, and they escalated it to the hotel, but I heard nothing for a week. Jasmine was meant to call or email me and never did. Hilton corporate had to reimburse my stay. As a woman traveling alone, it was frightening, and I didn't feel that anyone at this location cared or valued me.

We came to town to visit my wife's family. The rooms were nice and breakfast was good, though I did find dead ladybugs on the windows. I know they get everywhere in Iowa this time of year. The service was the letdown. When we arrived, a woman was on her phone. I said hello, and she sighed with a flat expression, as if checking us in was a bother. I later learned she was the general manager. I didn't feel welcome, even though otherwise it was a nice hotel.

My sister was in tears after the hotel ruined her eighth birthday party. About ten people had come by to sing happy birthday and support her, and we were rudely kicked out with police called over a party, even though only four people were staying overnight and the stated maximum was six. I don't see what we did wrong. Jasmine was the woman who made us leave. She was disrespectful about the refund and generally disrespectful. I would not recommend this hotel for a child's get-together or anything else if you don't want it interrupted rudely.
