The rooms were in good shape and the atmosphere felt relaxing. Just be aware, the hotel closes at midnight, so arrive at a decent hour if you plan to stay.

A friend stayed there but had to leave because the man at the front desk was acting really creepy and watching her. He gave me the creeps.

The TV had a snowy picture and buzzing sounds, and there wasn't an ice machine. They also had neither the advertised continental breakfast nor coffee. It's a shame, because this hotel could be nice, with so many activities and attractions around it.

I was just driving through Altoona and decided at the last minute to stay. The gentleman at the desk was kind and gave me a senior discount. He let me know in advance that the cable wasn't very good, which didn't bother me since TV wasn't going to be important during my stay. The motel was under construction, but I only needed the room overnight and it was no problem. It was very clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable. Cleanliness, service and price are why I'd rate Horseshoe Curve Lodge a 5.

I came in early December and saw a really nice gentleman looking for a room, but none were available yet. They sent him away in heavy rain. I left not long afterward and didn't even want to book after seeing how they treated him. I also went to get a hash brown nearby, and a woman was too busy talking on the phone to serve me. Several businesses around here seem to have this problem. Do better, Altona.
